Job Overview:
We are currently looking for an ICT professional who wants to join an expanding international team of artists, engineers and production staff to help build and support the infrastructure that brings creative vision to life. The ideal candidate will have an interest in the Film and TV Post Production industry in particular in the visual effects and graphics process, but while experience in media is an advantage it is not a requirement. This is a great opportunity for a Technician looking to get into the creative industries. The role is full time and is for a fixed term of 12 months.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head Engineer, the IT Technician will be responsible for the first line support of the hardware and software used across the entire IT infrastructure of the VFX Dept. As well as helping out in the general IT / Technical dept.
Skill Requirements:
The Candidate is expected to have experience in a number of technologies commonly used in the Visual Effects industry including:
- Multiple IT operating systems Windows, Mac and Linux
- Computer hardware experience
- Knowledge of network infrastructure - firewalls, switches, routers, wiring
- Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols and routing protocols such as (FTP, HTTP, SSH, NFS, SMB)
- Virtualization (vmware)
- Experience in a VFX or animation facility would be preferred
- Automation and Backups
- Amazon Web Services
- Knowledge and experience of Python is an advantage.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving skills (including server and desktop hardware troubleshooting)
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet critical deadlines
