Job Title: Junior Assistant Producer, Sport
Main Purpose of Job: To assist in the of production distinctive television sports programming across the Virgin Media Group including Virgin Media Online and Social Media channels
Working Relationships: Other Virgin Media employees across all departments, talent and technical staff external stakeholders, including rights agencies and sporting federations.
Responsible To: Head of Sport
Responsible For: Sports content output including digital and/or social media as required.
Liaison With: Sports organisations, relevant stakeholders, on air talent, broadcast agencies and/or other broadcasters
Main Tasks of Job
- To assist in the production of highlights edits for TV and digital services, often under pressure with a quick turnaround, as well as preparing longer form edits for transmission.
- To work collaboratively across live sports events and output liaising with technical operatives in the areas such as playback and graphics.
- To engage and embrace Virgin Media Social Media and Digital channels to promote Virgin Media Sports programming
- To plan and organise, taking into account all relevant issues and factors, so that projects and work are completed in an efficient and timely way, including compiling and completing music returns for all platforms.
- Fact checking, research and story finding for video assets and native article content.
- Compiling relevant stats and information packs for on air talent and production staff.
- Actively contributing ideas to pitch meetings and brain storms.
- Receiving, logging and ingesting all raw material received from shoots. Ensuring these are stored and archived appropriately.
- Logging and ingesting all sporting content ensuring these are kept up to date and made available for the purpose of production.
- Managing the inventory of hard drives and ensuring that these are catalogued, signed in and out accordingly and re-formatted once material is ingested.
- Assisting producers by putting together basic timelines in Avid Media Composer and re-exporting files in different formats as required.
- Providing support on location shoots.

Essential
- An understanding of editorial rules and policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- An in-depth knowledge of the Irish sports agenda.
- Thoroughness for accuracy and an excellence in attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and changing priorities.
- Ability to use and engage in social digital media to promote content.
- Understanding of TV and digital production skills and requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- An expectation of working outside normal office hours.
Desirable
- Previous professional experience as a researcher or production assistant.
- Previous experience working on editing systems, specifically Avid Media Composer
- 1-2 years’ experience of working on live or studio productions.
- Awareness of the latest technologies to deliver the highest quality cost-efficient programming.
- Full clean driving license.
