We are recruiting for the role of Storyboard Supervisor. This is a key creative lead position within the studio reporting directly to the Director / Episodic Director and Senior Studio Management.
The role requires supervision of the department and the timely delivery of storyboards to the required standard to the productions. It is a varied, fast-moving role involving working closely with in-house show Directors. The Supervisor will need frequently to find practical, smart solutions and exercise balanced judgement on both commercial and artistic needs.
Responsibilities:
- Establish the style of the show in collaboration with the Director and the Clients.
- Manage a team of Storyboard Artists and give feedback to the team as required.
- Work closely with the directors to communicate the style of the shows through to the team and the storyboard revisionists to assist them in addressing the notes from the director and the client.
- Create script notes detailing what is required of the storyboard for each episode.
- Review and make detailed notes on each storyboard pass, and make revisions when needed.
- Work closely with creative supervisors to manage complexities of production.
- Ensure quality and style of show is consistently achieved in storyboard work.
- Ensure all work is filed/saved properly, all naming conventions are followed and the storyboards are delivered according to the needs of the editors.
- Work with the Production Manager to meet all the deadlines according to the production schedule.
- Help to source Storyboard Artists.
- Review tests submitted by Storyboard Artist candidates.
- Train up inexperienced board artists.
- Work with the revisionist to train up their skills in order to become storyboard artist in the future.
- Attend script breakdown meetings with the Storyboard Artist, Art Director and Directors.
Person Specification
- Must have at least 5 years’ experience working as an animation Storyboard artist. Previous Storyboard Supervisor preferable.
- An excellent understanding of whole animation production process.
- Strong drawing skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Task driven, self-motivated, and proactive.
- Must be open to direction.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple tasks in a fast paced production.
