Brown Bag Films requires a CG Asset Lead (Contract)
Reporting to: Production Manager
Supervised by: CG Supervisor
Summary of the Role
- The position of the CG ASSET LEAD is a support function to the CG Supervisor for the
- asset build phase of production. The role’s primary responsibility is to plan and implement
- the asset build of characters, props and sets for a specific show with the CG Team.
- They must ensure the CG assets are created to the project’s technical and creative
- specifications, and they are published on schedule. The role requires someone with
- extensive ‘hands-on’ generalist knowledge of CG Asset Workflow and Maya.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Partner with CG Supervisor and Production Management to organise, plan & implement the asset build phase of production from a CG perspective.
- Complete personal weekly work queue of tasks encompassing practical tasks such as Modelling, Texturing, Surfacing, basic Rigging, asset fixing, QC and Publishing, and revision notes.
- Provide regular progress updates to Production Management and CG Supervisor on any technical bottlenecks concerning the asset production.
- Troubleshoot issues with the project’s Assets Internally and externally.
- Provide technical support on assets for other team members when required.
- Liaise and validate technical approach on asset tasks with the Leads and CG Supervisor
- Create and validate technical ‘Asset Launch notes’ and ‘Call-Outs’ for external assets via Shotgun if required. |
- Managing tickets for external assets.
- QC and Publish Hero and Key assets.
- Ensure assets are optimised for viewport, and render time performance.
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of the principles of the varying parts of the 3D Animation process and CG Workflow (Modelling, Texturing, Shading, Lighting, Rigging, FX, hair, cloth simulation)
- Able to tackle the more technical aspects of CG asset build.
- Ability to balance the needs between the Production schedule and the project’s expectations
- Extensive experience in Maya.
- Reel must demonstrate a good artistic “eye”
- Experience with shotgun (or asset tracking systems) is considered a plus but not essential.
