Horse Racing Ireland requires a Photo Finish Operator
The Photo Finish system is operated by Horse Racing Ireland on all 26 Irish Racecourses ensuring the highest level of integrity in the production and dissemination of racing results. Horse Racing Ireland now seeks to recruit a number of Photo Finish Operators to join a panel of people we can call upon to work at racemeetings.
The Role:
- Install and set-up multiple photo finish cameras, electronic timing and audio visual systems
- Assist in the calibration and alignment of cameras and mirrors during racing to service different track layouts
- Display photo finish images to the public via the Outside Broadcast Unit and racecourse displays
- Provide efficient daily support and assistance to the Judge
- Ensure each horse is accurately placed
- Provide accurate data to HRI and other service providers
- Ensure sufficient testing of electronic timing is completed prior to each race
- Trouble-shoot issues maintaining the current standard of equipment and infrastructure cabling
- Follow all company procedures and protocol
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Strong IT and networking skills with the ability to trouble-shoot, test repair and service technical equipment.Experience of high speed digital photo cameras would be a distinct advantage. Proven field service experience with the ability to multitask and work to deadlines, working as part of a team and on own initiative. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Electrical training and rigging qualifications would be a distinct advantage.
An interest in the racing industry would be an advantage.
Applicants should have availability mid-week and/or weekends and Bank Holidays. Work is on a casual basis meaning successful applicants may/may not be required to work depending on the requirements of the racing calendar. Rosters are prepared in advance to allow for planning. A full drivers licence is required for this role.
