REPORTING TO:
The Production Specialist-vision services, will report directly into the General Manager at UTV Ireland.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
To Operate UTV Ireland’s broadcast equipment in order to provide studio production services, in particular the studio camera facilities, lighting console and clip play-in facilities.
MAIN DUTIES:
- To operate the system camera control units, maintain studio picture quality and operate camera robotics under programme direction.
- To operate the studio lighting console and wen required work with a lighting consultant to establish optimum settings and pre-sets.
- To operate the studio clip play-in facility from a console.
- To liaise with production staff in order to identify programme requirements, engage in rehearsals and assist production staff to improve the production sand associated workflows.
- To undertake media operations as requested or rostered, consisting of establishing feeds, naming, recording and receipt and prepare media destined for storage or live use.
- To be competent in the use of gallery IT systems and production applications
- To offer first line support in the vision environment
OTHER FACTORS:
- Shift work is a requirement of the role
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION
EDUCATION:
Educated to at least Leaving Certificate standard and up to an equivalent of a relevant higher National or Degree Qualification.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three years recent relevant experience in television operations.
KNOWLEDGE:
- A knowledge of file based technologies used for delivery, viewing, storage and manipulation such as transcoding for media operations.
- A knowledge of audio and video principles.
- A knowledge of television production processes.
- An in-depth operational knowledge of either production switching systems, audio consoles, studio vision camera operations or production technology and media systems.
- A knowledge of relevant codes of practice applicable to the role with particular reference to technical quality requirements.
- A knowledge of Health and Safety in a technical operational environment.
SKILLS:
- Good aural and visual judgement.
- Comfortable working with IT equipment and good IT skills.
- Good communication skills-both written and verbal.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Logical approach to problem solving and good attention to detail.
- Good hand eye co-ordination.
ATTRIBUTES:
- Ability to operate office and technical equipment.
- Ability to work on their own and to use their initiative and conclude further assistance required in order to progress work.
- Willing to learn and undertake training.
- Comfortable working in a team and respectful of peers, instructional and senior roles.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Good disposition to keep calm under unexpected issues during production and able to plan a recovery.
- Able to work a shift with early or late hours.
