‘Love At First Light’ wins Best Short at Norfolk Film Festival
04 Aug 2017 :
Caroline Grace-Cassidy’s latest project, which is produced by Kevin Cassidy of Park Pictures picked up the award following an extensive festival run since its premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh.

The festival screened received almost 700 submissions and screened 60 short films from more than 30 countries across it’s 3 days. This is the films 3rd award win, following wins at the Dublin Underground Film Festival and the prestigious Cineuropa Audience Award at the Filminute Film Festival, where it racked up an impressive 50,000 views during the two week competition.

The film premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh and has gone on to screen at 40 festivals around the world. It has brought the film to Seattle, Toronto, London, Miami, Rome, Kyiv, Dhaka, Belfast and even Glastonbury where it screened as part of the 2016 festival. Last week it screened at the Baton Rouge Irish Film Festival in Louisiana.

Kevin Cassidy, Producer:
"This short has been so well received by audiences around the world, when we shot it we couldn’t have imagined it would reach the places it has. The most rewarding aspect is hearing the audience feedback, whether it was Dhaka or Dublin it seems that people really got it. We also received a huge amount of support from Eibh Collins who’s the shorts programmer for the Galway Film Fleadh and Irish Film London amongst others. She programmed the film in a number of festivals here, in the UK and in Canada. When you make a film you need all the support you can to get it out there, we were lucky to have her in our corner.”

Caroline Grace Cassidy, Writer/Director:
“Love at first light was a little ‘turn the tables’ idea I had on the morning after the night before. Simply put we just don’t see enough on screen where the woman is portrayed taking on that role of the free spirit in the bedroom - without her being shamed - so I felt I wanted to make something whereby if it was the man we wouldn't judge so why should we judge this woman? It’s a liberating film.”
