About the Role:

At Virgin Media Television we have expanded our channel offering, and as a results of this exciting growth we are looking for a TX & Programme Compliance Editor to join or team in Operations. The Transmission & Programme Compliance team is a core Operational team within VMTV responsible for the  preparation, review & output to air of all Virgin Media Channels to the highest standard.

Due to the nature of Television, this role involves irregular hours and weekend work. 

Specific Duties & Tasks:

  • Prepping live programmes for quick turnaround repeats
  • Prepping all non-live programmes to fulfil the needs of the weekly programme schedules across all VMTV channels, as well as programmes for Player and On Demand services
  • Flag any audio/visual glitches within files
  • Evaluate acquired programme content with due regard to Virgin Media television’s taste and decency guidelines
  • Sending content to internal systems for on-air playout
  • Meticulous entry of metadata into rights and scheduling software
  • Delivering files to external service providers for the creation of access services files such as subtitles, audio description and Irish sign language
  • Checking and embedding of access services files
  • Appending, timing, and checking of transmission schedules
  • Review, monitor & ensure that the content for output of all channels is kept to the highest broadcast standards
  • In conjunction with studio operations, operate and take live programming in and out of commercial breaks
  • Maintain server space through careful media management across all media centres within the Transmission system
  • Occasionally there may be requirement to take on extra responsibilities to assist the TX & Compliance lead
  • Other additional duties as necessitated by the Company

Skills & Expertise:

  • The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate knowledge of Avid based editing systems, or similar
  • Have at least 1 years’ editing experience
  • Understanding of broadcast video formats and standards
  • Knowledge of Transmission systems a plus but not essential
  • Knowledge of Rights & Scheduling software a plus but not essential
