TV3 requires a News Correspondent
Reporting to: Head of 3News Ireland
Duration: Permanent
Location: TV3, Ballymount
About the role
3News requires a senior journalist to help lead our coverage of breaking news by providing reportage and analysis on the main stories of the day. Based at our expanding News Hub at TV3 in Ballymount, the successful candidate will have an established track record of breaking exclusive stories and working to tight deadlines. S/he will work across three channels as well as contributing to 3News’ digital platforms. The ability to self-edit is a requirement but training will be provided where necessary.
About the person
The ideal candidate must have:
- An excellent contacts book
- Experience working on big stories and providing exclusive angles
- A proven background in dealing with breaking news stories
- Credible and established on-air experience in live broadcasting
- Extensive experience in broadcast production
- A top-class news sense and great eye for a story
- A strong track record of achievement especially in breaking exclusive news stories
- The ability to tell stories in a clear, creative and effective manner
- An authoritative and engaging on-air presence
- Good ideas for future news coverage
- At least seven years journalism experience
- A thorough knowledge of all legal issues around news broadcasting
- Understanding of – and engagement with – digital news platforms
- A robust work ethic that understands the need for flexibility
- Strong interpersonal skills
- The skills and personality to be a brand ambassador for 3News both inside and outside the organization
