Role: 2D Pipeline Manager Job Description
Reporting to: Producer/Production Supervisor
The Pipeline Manager is responsible for the implementation and management of Boulder’s production workflow process across all 2D productions.
It is the responsibility of this person to standardise the process across all 2D productions. The pipeline manager works with each department to ensure that the production workflow is defined, understood by all crew and is followed throughout the entire production process.
This manager will seek to continually improve the process and will work with the technical directors where needed to develop scripts to increase efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Work with department heads to ensure the optimal process is in place to meet production needs and production deadlines
- Where needed work with the department heads where continual breaches / non-compliance occurs to ensure procedure is followed by all crew
- Ensure workflow documentation of 2d platform/tracking systems are continually updated
- Work with the 2D Technical Director to identify scripting requirements to improve efficiency of the pipeline process
- Ensure tools and processes implemented meet the pipeline tracking requirements
- Define and implement an asset management system to optimise asset usage by production
- Act as a liaison for communicating technical issues to the technical directors
- Work with the technical directors/training managers to ensure department heads are familiar with the platforms/workflow process
- Ensuring that all departments understand the requirements and have sufficient information to maintain correct naming procedures through the production.
- Create and keep updated documentation that outlines our processes and tools
Person Specification/Requirements
- Pipeline management experience – or a previous process/technical managerial role
- 5+ years of experience in episodic animation
- Experience identifying process improvements for Shotgun, FTrack or other production tracking software preferred
- Experience using/developing Toon Boom Harmony preferred
- Excellent communication, organisational, troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
