JOB DESCRIPTION:
Senior Camera Operator – Regional Offices
(Cork, Dublin, Limerick and Galway)
Reporting to:
General Manager
PURPOSE OF JOB:
To perform the complete range of news camera duties extending to work which requires strong elements of craft production and direction. To undertake editing duties as required
MAIN DUTIES:
- To produce Camera, Edit and Audio work to technical standards commensurate with senior role
- To direct ENG production
- To work in challenging production environments
- To undertake special project work
- To develop and support other staff as required
Also, to perform the complete range of duties of Camera/Edit role, to shoot/edit and other additional duties as required i.e.:
- To work effectively and collaboratively within a fully multi-disciplined camera/edit team
- To actively contribute to efficient workflows and make recommendations for improvements
- To operate cameras in a studio environment when required
- To operate cameras to a high standard with particular reference to technical quality requirements
- To edit to the required standard on Avid (Laptop and Edit suites)
- To record ENG sound to the required standard
- To FTP material as required
- To have a thorough understanding of newsroom workflows
- To liaise with production staff to identify requirements including online, social and new media content creation
- To set lights as necessary on location
- To perform technical line-up to the required standard
- To ensure that equipment is kept in a serviceable condition and to report faults promptly to the appropriate person
- To support other members of the camera/edit/sound team as required
- To understand and be proficient in the use of Avid Interplay
- To be sufficiently proficient in IT so as to effectively perform role
- To take all necessary health and safety precautions to minimise
risks in the working environment
- To represent UTV Ireland professionally and positively at all times
- To demonstrate flexibility in working hours and be prepared to travel to fulfill business needs and operational requirements
- To undertake any other duties as requested by management
