IRISH FILM & TELEVISION AWARDS RED CARPET

The 7th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards took place at Dublin's Burlington Hotel on Saturday 20th February 2010.

One of the most prestigious nights in the Irish entertainment and cultural calendar, IFTA 2010 welcomed the cream of Ireland’s creative talent from the world of film and television and among the Irish creative talent walking the red carpet included nominees Brendan Gleeson, Colin Farrell, Saoirse Ronan, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Aidan Quinn, Ciarán Hinds, Michael Fassbender, Elaine Cassidy, Amy Huberman, Charlene McKenna, Sarah Bolger, Darren Healy, Nora Jane Noone, Jade Yourell, Janice Byrne, Amy Kirwan, Simon Delaney, Dervla Kirwan, Ger Ryan, Ruth Bradley, Robert Sheehan, Diarmuid Noyes, Dawn Bradfield and Tatianna Ouliankina.

TG4 AUTUMN LINE-UP ANNOUNCED

Guests including; Hector O hEochagáin, Sinéad Ní Loideáin, Roisín Ní Thomáin, Pól Ó Gríofa, Tara Breathnach and Marcus Seoige helped to launch TG4's 'Emotional' Autumn Line-up

Hector O hEochagáin officially launched the new TG4 Autmn schedule in the new Aviva stadium on Tuesday, August 31st. Introducing the theme of scheduling for the broadcaster he announced: “There are many jewels in the Auutmn line-up and it’s a schedule full of emotion. That’s our key word this Autumn: Emotion.” Included in the line up will be a major new series profiling each of the 1916 Proclamation signatories; the story of the man who invented the documentary film using the Aran Islands as his testing-ground; a revealing television history of Irish rugby; Hector’s invasion of Canada; award-winning documentaries and a return to free-to-air TV for Magner’s League rugby are to form key elements in the TG4’s 2010 Autumn Schedule.

IFTA IN CONVERSATION WITH... GRAHAM LINEHAN

On Thursday 26th of August, the Irish Film & Television Academy hosted an In Conversation With... special event with comedy writer Graham Linehan - creator of the much loved Channel 4 television series Father Ted and the IT Crowd.

Attending this exclusive IFTA event were Members of the Irish Film & Television Academy and invited guests including Niall Tobin, Victoria Smurfit, Frank Kelly, Joe Rooney and Paul Young.

Derek O'Connor led the discussion between Graham and the IFTA Academy.

TV3 AUTUMN SCHEDULE LAUNCH

Among the guests at TV3's autumn schedule launch were stars of TV3 including Bill Cullen, Jackie Lavin, Glenda Gilson, Lisa Cannon, Ray Foley and Matt Cooper. TV3’s schedule has over 150 hours of new home-produced peak-time programming across all genres and the broadcaster reported that home produced programming will increase by 10% to 40%, with a three year aim to exceed 50%.

Highlights of the new additions to the schedule include The Apprentice: At Home; Take Me Out; Cocaine Wars; Come Dine With Me; Farmers: A Life on the Land, Boozed Up Irish Abroad and The Road to Dublin.
