‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’, the new film from Oscar-winning Irish writer/director Martin McDonagh, is set to start shooting in April in North Carolina with Film4 and Fox Searchlight set to finance the feature.
Oscar winning actress Frances McDormand (‘Fargo’) is attached to star in the story of a woman who takes on the local police after her daughter is murdered. ‘Three Billboards’ is being produced by Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin at Blueprint Pictures alongside McDonagh with Film4 and Blueprint also behind ‘In Bruges’ and ‘Seven Psychopaths’ – McDonagh’s first two features.
Martin McDonagh won an Oscar in 2006 for his short film ‘Six Shooter’ starring Brendan Gleeson. ‘In Bruges’, McDonagh’s debut feature film starring Gleeson and Colin Farrell, was released to critical acclaim in 2008 with McDonagh’s script garnering an Oscar nomination. ‘Seven Psychopaths’, starring Farrell, Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken, was released in 2012 to positive reviews and made over $32 million at the Box Office.
Fox Searchlight will take worldwide distribution rights to ‘Three Billboards’ with Channel 4 retaining UK TV rights.
