TG4’s ‘Ros na Rún’ returns for 20th season on September 1st

‘Ros na Rún’ remains popular with audiences as the total weekly viewership figure currently stands at 150,000
TG4’s flagship soap opera ‘Ros na Rún’ will return to TG4 for their 20th season on Tuesday, September 1st at 8.30pm.

Co-produced by Tyrone Productions and Eo Teilifis, ‘Ros na Rún’ is a fictional village located near Spiddal, 11 miles from Galway city. It is modelled on an average village in the West of Ireland but with its own distinct personality – diverse population that share secrets, romances, friendships etc and represents contemporary Gaeltacht and rural life.

The show has so far broadcast a total of 1496 episodes on TG4 and employs over 140 people. ‘Ros na Rún’ broadcasts for 35 weeks of the year, airing two episodes a week on TG4 on Tuesday and Thursday at 8.30pm and airs an omnibus on Sunday at 10.30pm. The show has remained popular with viewers and the total weekly viewership figure currently stands at 150,000.

Speaking at the launch of the new season 20, series producer Hugh Farley said: “The production team and cast at Ros na Rún are excited to share the new series 20 with viewers. There are shocks and surprises galore and we have made sure to balance them with lighter stories with a strong comic twist.”

The last season of ‘Ros na Rún’ ended with Eoin knocking out rogue Tadhg and locking him into a coffin to avenge his father with Tadgh’s fate left unknown. Other prominent storylines include romances between Eimear and Eoin and Caitriona and Vince.
