The second series of highly anticipated drama ‘The Fall’ has already received rave reviews since its return. Written by Allan Cubitt and starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan, the critically acclaimed psychological drama is BBC Two’s biggest drama series.
Creator and director Allan Cubitt has now confirmed that there will be a treat in store for fans as the series is to a close with a feature-length finale. The sixth episode will be a 90-minute special as opposed to the standard length of 60 minutes.
Cubitt commented: “I'm grateful to the BBC for allowing me the opportunity to finish the second series with a feature-length episode. It's a real vote of confidence in the show and allows me the chance to explore the issues the drama deals with in real depth.”
Ben Stephenson, Controller BBC Drama Commissioning adds: “This series has such a wonderfully shocking conclusion that it’s only fitting viewers should be treated to a feature length finale to relish.”
Besides Dornan, Irish on-screen talent in the series includes Aisling Franciosi, Valene Kane, John Lynch, Bronagh Waugh and Stuart Graham. Irish DOP Ruairi O’ Brien was a key crew member.
‘The Fall’ won Best Drama at this year’s IFTAs while lead actor Jamie Dornan won both for Best Actor in a TV series and the Rising Star award.
