The Creatives in Animation Network, founded by Irish writer and animation pioneer Lindsay Jane Sedgwick, will hold its second event of 2013 at the Galway Film Fleadh, in the Radisson Blu Hotel on Friday 12th July from 11.30am to 1.30pm.
Founded in January 2012, the network aims to create a space in which writers and animators can meet, make contacts, and discuss creative ideas in an informal setting.
The Galway meeting will mark the first time the network has held an event outside Dublin and is open to anyone interested in collaborating professionally within the animation industry - including writers, animators, producers, directors, scribblers and illustrators.
Ms Sedgwick’s latest series ‘Punky’, produced by Geronimo Animation, was the first mainstream animation series to ever feature a child with special needs as its main character and has already been sold to more than eight international territories.
The series was nominated for two IFTA awards for Best Children’s Show and Best Sound and is distributed by Monster Entertainment with Lace Digital Media handling DVD sales.
A screenwriting tutor, script consultant and reader for independent producers, Ms Sedgwick is also currently developing an animation feature ‘PIA’; a live action TV series ‘Archangel’; and an animated series ‘Wulfie’ for 4-8 year olds.
