Budding writers and animators are invited to attend the Creatives in Animation Network meeting on Monday 13th May at 7pm in Filmbase, for a networking event aimed at creating collaborative partnerships for future film projects.
Lindsay Jane Sedgwick, group founder and organiser, spearheaded the initiative to give writers and animators the opportunity to access each other’s talents in an increasingly competitive industry.
Ms Sedgwick is an award-winning writer whose credits include animated series ‘Punky’ - nominated for two IFTAs and at the Celtic Film Festival - which is distributed by Monster Entertainment with Lace Digital Media handling DVD sales.
Geronimo Animation produced the series and are currently in production of series two, while the show has had offers from eight international territories to date.
Her latest animated project ‘Wulfie’ has also gone into development with Monster Entertainment, with funding as part of their Media Slate application.
Upon hearing the news that it had been picked up, Ms Sedgwick’s reaction was suitably euphoric.
‘I am over the moon, as any of you who know me can imagine. ‘Wulfie’ began with bedtime stories I made up for my daughter in 2005 when she was all of six. She's now 14. We are both eeping at each other with delight, punching the air and grinning insanely. To everyone who is a writer with ideas that haven't yet been recognised, take this as hope,’ she said.
Ms Sedgwick explained that anyone who wants to collaborate with others to get material made is welcome - including writers who have yet to write animation, novelists, playwrights, animation writers; animators, animation directors, storyboard artists, illustrators, comic book artists, model-makers or producers.
