Ireland’s Monster Entertainment and Jam Media were among the big winners at the Cartoon Tributes Awards at the Cartoon Forum in France over the weekend.
Dublin-based finance and distribution company, Monster won the award for investor/ distributor of the year while Jam Media took the prize for producer of the year.
The Cartoon Forum market is held annually and is attended by a number of Irish animation companies who meet with decision-makers, buyers and investors from all over the world. This year 800 participants from 32 countries pitched 69 animation projects.
Jam produces a number of shows that air around the world, including ‘Picme’ for Nickelodeon Junior and ‘Roy,’ which has aired on RTÉ, BBC and stations in Australia and Scandinavia.
Monster distributes a raft of TV and animation series worldwide, notably ‘Fluffy Gardens’ and ‘I’m A Creepy Crawley’.
Speaking after receiving his award, John Rice, CEO of Jam, said: “We are hugely honoured to receive an award of this calibre, it is testament to the talent that a small country like Ireland can produce, there are over 30 countries participating in this three day event which represents massive competition and it makes us extremely proud that we have been selected to receive this award.”
Other big winners on the night included French broadcaster Gulli who won the broadcaster of the year award.
