Tile Films Digs Up Old War Wounds For ‘Graves of the Disappeared’ Doc
20 Jun 2012 : By Eva Hall
Dave Farrell
Tile Films is currently in production on its documentary ‘Graves of the Disappeared’, having signed a contract for production funding with the BAI this week.

The Dublin-based production company was awarded €198,000 in production funding from the BAI’s Broadcast Funding – Sound & Vision II Scheme in 2011.

The two-part documentary will explore the period between 1919 and 1923, focusing on the aftermath of the Irish War of Independence and the subsequent Civil War, when hundreds of bodies were dumped in unmarked mass graves.

Director Martin Dwan and producer Dave Farrell are currently shooting in Cork, with the shoot scheduled to move to Wicklow next week. Filming will wrap on July 20.

Irish historian and TCD professor Eunan O’Halpin will present the two-part series, while Jon Fay, who has worked on RTÉ shows such as ‘The Den’ and ‘The Big Money Game’, is the director of photography.

There is no set date for broadcast yet, but TV3 will air the documentary when post production is complete. Kevin Cooney will edit, with post scheduled for completion in September.
