RTÉ 'Themed Week' Set for April 2012, Doc Ideas Sought
24 Aug 2011 :
Aftershock Themed week
Following on from successful themed weeks in 2010 and 2011, with The Aftershock week and the Heart:Land week, RTÉ are seeking ideas for anchor documentaries/series for April 2012.

The previous 2010/2011 themed weeks grew out of documentary ideas submitted to RTÉ Factual, and worked together with other teams in RTÉ Radio, TV and Online to maximise the reach and impact of the subjects explored.

RTÉ Factual are inviting production companies to submit ideas for landmark documentaries for prime time slots at Sunday 15th at 9.30, Monday 16th and 9.309 and Tuesday 17th April at 10.10 on RTÉ One. They should investigate, celebrate or explore any aspect of life in Ireland that needs to be highlighted in 2012.

Ideas should be for a landmark doc or series, but the content or theme chosen should have the potential to be explored by other RTÉ programmes, including radio and online.

Themes do not have to be doom and gloom; but whatever springboard documentary idea is submitted should spark debate, discussion and even action. The theme should allow for both light and shade across the week and for exploration in a variety of ways across several different platforms and programmes.

Producers should submit ideas to the eCommissioning system https://e-commissioning.rte.ie/SWIFT.Web/skins/rte/login.aspx under the programme category ‘Factual – Doc Series 2012’ before close of business on Friday 30th September 2011.
