The American Office
Channel 6, Ireland’s newest television station is set to launch on the 30th of March 2006. Touted as "Ireland’s first dedicated entertainment channel" the station promises home grown programming as well as award winning US titles such as ‘House’, ‘The Closer’, ‘My Name is Earl’ and ‘The American Office’.
With a €2million advertising and promotional spend, Channel 6 is geared towards the under 35 demographic and will broadcast on the NTL and Chorus digital and analogue platforms.
The new channel has announced plans for an Irish produced fashion show, ‘Catwalk 6’; a movie review show, ‘Screen 6’; and music features, ‘PopScene’ and ‘Mus:Six’. Intermission Studios are handling the Irish productions, which will all be commissioned out to independent production companies.
In addition to the Irish programmes, the station has also secured ‘Numb3rs’, ‘Sex and the City’, ‘CSI Miami & Vegas’, ‘The Inside’ and will re-run popular series such as ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and ‘Dawson’s Creek’.
