The Broadcast Commission of Ireland (BCI) have given the green light for a new 24hour Dublin television station, City Channel, with the decision to grant a ten year television license to the stations owners City Channel Ltd.
The ‘City Channel’ service will broadcast 24 hours, seven days a week. It will be a niche service providing dedicated information and entertainment specifically of interest to the Dublin area. Programming will include lifestyle subjects such as Motoring, Property, Local Government, Dublin Culture, What’s-On Guide, Shopping and Travel, in addition to transport and weather updates.
The service will be carried on the ntl digital platform in Dublin further to section 41 of the Broadcasting Act 2001. The service will form part of ntl’s digital standard television subscription package.
Radio and television entrepreneur Mr. David Harvey leads the investors behind the new televisions station. They estimate the City Channel will be available in over 90,000 homes in the Dublin area.
