Single Documentary
Buried under concrete and controversy on the outskirts of Dublin lies the remains of Ireland’s ‘pop star priest’ – Father Michael Cleary. Cleary chain-smoked, swore, gambled and sang his way to and from the pulpit. In 1991 as a student I moved into his house and started filming him. Fifteen years on using my unseen archive this film is the story of the secret life of a man who fooled me, his family and an entire nation.
