Construction worker Alex is a loser. The failed family man has been living for months in a container on the building site where he works. Ruth has been on the game for some time and still dreams of 'a normal life'. Then there's Svetlana, who Alex met on Berlin's Kurfurstenstrasse. She's a refugee from Bosnia, who is soon to be deported. They are three lonely people who want to change their lives, but whose greatest obstacle to success is as much themselves as the circumstances they're in.
