This film tells one of the most famous stories in the history of exploration, through the eyes of an Irish team of adventurers who travelled to the Antarctic in the spring of 1997. These climbers and sailors are retracing the epic Journey of two great Irish born explorers - Ernest Shackleton and Tom Crean who travelled to and barely escaped from the Antarctic in the years 1914/1915.

The 1997 adventure has involved travelling to and visiting the Antarctic; trekking and climbing on uninhabited islands; enduring the 800 mile small boat journey to South Georgia and finally a climb across South Georgia to Shackleton's final resting place.
