Racing Homer is a story about pigeon racing, satellite dishes and difficult choices.

Set in the bizarre world of Pigeon Fanciers where birds, lofts and the coveted prize at the National Inland Open, dwarf all other ordinary human concerns, it follows Danny Green and his mates in their "flights of fancy", whose hobby consumes their daily lives to the exclusion of their having a "day job". Danny is delighted when his latest pigeon "Emerald" continues to clock record times and he dreams of victory in the Inland Open. Unfortunately Danny is steadily moving beyond the orbit of normal life, abdicating his family responsibilities to his troubled wife Sharon; that is until everything unravels and Danny has to make a devastating decision to save what he can.
