The Brylcreem Boys appropriates an unusual era for an Irish film, that of the Second World War. Ireland adopted a policy of neutrality, which meant that any military personnel found on Irish soil would be interned in a prison camp for the duration of the war. However prisoners of war from both the Allied and the Axis side were interned in the same camp. Therefore Miles Keogh, a Canadian airman and Count Rudolph von Stegenbek, a German Officer find themselves in the same camp, a situation which is further complicated by the fact that both men fall for the same girl, Mattie Guerin.
