Filmbase is a not-for-profit resource centre for filmmakers. Our building on Curved Street, in the heart of Dublin's Temple Bar, is a public space where filmmakers can network, hire filmmaking equipment, take training courses and receive support and information about working within the Irish film industry. Filmbase also publishes the online magazine Film Ireland and administers a number of film and documentary production award schemes.

Filmbase Training provides a range of film and video training courses for new and emerging filmmakers as well as the more experienced film professional. These include Camera and Lighting, Sound, Directing, Screenwriting and Acting, and course lengths vary from 1 day or weekend courses to courses run over 8 to 10 weeks. Filmbase is also an Adobe Training Centre.

Filmbase is currently accepting applications for the September intake of their Masters in Digital Feature Film Production programme run in association with the University of West Scotland. The course is a highly practical programme which prepares filmmakers for the reality of writing, developing, producing, pitching, shooting, editing and distributing feature films in digital formats. Throughout the course students will collaborate on the production of a feature film for exhibition and distribution.  Students on the programme have most recently collaborated with Gerry Stembridge (About Adam) on The Randomer, a modern comedy which premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh and proceeded to sell out screenings at the IFI and Cork Film Festival.

Prospective applicants are invited to find more information at www.filmmasters.ie or by contacting Filmbase directly.

If you’ve any question about part-time courses contact training@filmbase.ie. For all other inquiries, contact info@filmbase.ie.
