Netflix has released first-look images of its upcoming film adaptation of Richard Osman's bestseller The Thursday Murder Club, and confirmed a release date for this August (28th).
The film also stars Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie. Based on Richard Osman's international bestselling novel of the same name, The Thursday Murder Club follows four irrepressible retirees - Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley), and Joyce (Celia Imrie) - who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun. When an unexplained death occurs on their own doorstep, their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands.
The film is directed by Chris Columbus, best known for his work on Home Alone, the Harry Potter franchise, and Gremlins. The Thursday Murder Club is the latest project to be produced through the Netflix and Amblin Entertainment partnership following the release of recent thriller Carry-On starring Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton.
The cast also includes Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Tom Ellis, Jonathan Pryce, David Tennant, Paul Freeman, Geoff Bell, Richard E Grant, and Ingrid Oliver.
Pierce Brosnan can currently be seen alongside Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy in Guy Richie’s new Paramount+ crime series, MobLand.
