Call Me Mommy
Motherland and Tara O’Callaghan’s Call Me Mommy has been officially selected for the Sundance Film Festival in January 2023 and will screen four times over the course of the festival.
The news marks the first Irish short documentary to be selected for the festival since 2014. Call Me Mommy had its World Premiere at Krakow Film Festival and won Best Short Documentary Galway Film Fleadh. The film also picked up the Audience Choice Award at the IFI Film festival. Uncovering the multifaceted life of 40 year old single mother and online sex worker, Sinead, Call Me Mommy delves into the various origins and effects of ‘mommy issues’ in Sinead’s personal and professional world, showing an intimate portrait of a modern day sex worker. With themes of domestic violence, motherhood, and sex work, Sinead’s story also offers a story of resilience in a life full of societal and familial judgement and pressure. Call Me Mommy is a Motherland Production. It was produced by Louise Byrne and Aaron McEnaney with Ross Killeen as executive producer and Alan McCarthy as associate producer. Edited by Vincent McEntee. Shot by Albert Hooi with sound design and original music by James Latimer. Speaking about the film’s Sundance selection, producer Louise Byrne told IFTN: “Motherland has always actively supported emerging talent within the company and when Tara came to us with this idea, we knew immediately that her vision had potential. The film is a collective triumph for our director, producers and post production team, as well as our incredible crew. We are hugely proud of Tara and excited to see the opportunities this brings.” Screening times at Sundance are as follows: Call Me Mommy // Prospector Square Theatre, Park City // 01/22/2023 // 9:00 AM Call Me Mommy // Broadway Centre Cinema 6, Salt Lake City // 01/23/2023 // 3:00 PM Call Me Mommy // The Megaplex at the Gateway 8/9, Salt Lake City // 01/26/2023 // 7:00 PM Call Me Mommy // Holiday Village Cinema 3, Park City // 01/28/2023 // 12:00 PM
