Principal photography has wrapped on new film noir medical thriller, A Sunken Place.
A Sunken Place is directed by Ronan O’Leary and written and produced by Gerard Daly whose first feature film, Sonny Capone, documented the rise of the Finglas Mafia and closed the Underground Film Festival in Dun Laoghaire in October.
The privately funded film features a cast including veteran Irish actor Patrick Bergin, Australian actress Emma Dargan Reid, a graduate of The Lir Academy who can currently be seen in Richard the Third on Broadway, Gerard Daly, Rachael Dowling and Lucianne McEvoy.
A Sunken Place follows a research neurologist who discovers a cure for depression, which puts him in direct conflict with a giant pharmaceutical company that is determined to crush him. The drama is interwoven with the lives of five sufferers of mental illness including a psychopathic killer who roams the streets and a priest who is possessed by an evil doppelganger.
Filmed on location across Dublin and shot on Arri Alexa, Zeiss lenses from Panavision by DoP Gary Finnegan and edited by Polish editor Natalie Witkowska (Sonny Capone).
The film expects to release in 2020.
