Bad Day for the Cut Prepares for US Release
03 Oct 2017 : Nathan Griffin
Chris Baugh’s thriller, which made its debut at Sundance Film Festival in January, will go on limited theatrical release in America from October 20th. The film will also be available to download in the US and UK and will be screened in the Queens theatre in Belfast.

Speaking with IFTN, Brendan Mullin, the films Producer told us:

“We are incredibly excited that BDFTC has secured a theatrical release in the US. We have a found great partner in our Distributor, Well Go USA and its a real testament to everyone involved in making the film that audiences stateside will have the opportunity to join Donal in his bloody, and sometimes darkly funny, quest for revenge. We hope they get a real kick out of it.”

The film has also seen success here in Ireland with Susan Lynch being nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2017 IFTA Film & Drama Awards.

Speaking with IFTN on her nomination earlier this year, Susan Lynch said:

"Absolutely thrilled To be nominated at the Iftas but especially for this role. "Frankie," a role that could so easily have been played by a man. But thank God it's not…and I got to play it."

Nigel O’Neill (Game of Thrones) leads the cast as Donal, a middle-aged Irish farmer, who still lives at home with his mother, and sets off on a mission of revenge when the old lady is murdered.

Producers are Brendan Mullin (Zoo) and Katy Jackson, with a script co-written by Mullin and Baugh. The project was filmed in Northern Ireland and was developed through Northern Ireland Screen’s New Talent Focus scheme with Lottery funding from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

The revenge thriller is produced by Six Mill Hill Productions.
