Irish Director Cathal Kenna captures the journey of five Irish emigrants as they pursue the common goal of returning to Ireland in his feature debut, which is set to screen locally and internationally in the coming weeks.
‘Coming Home’ follows Clare Waldron, Gerard Ward, Vera Finnega, couples Tom and Evelyn O’Brien, and Jimmy Hayes and Mary Lloyd.
It examines the key events surrounding mass emigration in Ireland, from the fifties through to more the recent waves prompted by the global financial crisis. Music was completed by Gareth Ebbs, Conor Ebbs, Carol Anne McGowan, White McKenzie and Gavin Mulhall. Kenna founded Clann Films to distribute the title, which premieres in Movies@Dundrum on Friday, November 18th and will continue to screen until Thursday November 24th. Kenna will be present on the opening night for a Q&A session.
Additionally ‘Coming Home’ is set to screen as part of Moving Ireland at the Wood Quay, Dublin Civic Offices, an upcoming conference from Crosscare Migrant Project and Dublin City Council. This screening is scheduled for Monday November 14th at 21:00.
