Having broken Irish box office records as the highest grossing opening weekend for an Irish-made documentary, Brendan J. Byrne’s acclaimed project is going from strength to strength.
The project is now screening is a total of 41 cinemas nationwide, making it one of the widest released documentaries in Irish cinema history.
‘Bobby Sands: 66 Days’ has garnered responses from both Southern and Northern Ireland, as figures in film and politics alike respond to the portrait of the Republican hunger striker.
East Derry’s Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed the news that the film is opening in more cinemas saying, “It is important that as wide an audience as possible has the opportunity to see this important contribution to a better understanding our recent past.”
