The European Film Market is one of the largest and most important film markets internationally and the Irish are building on their golden year of 2015 by having a large number of titles screening and selling in 2016.
The EFM kicks off in Berlin this Sunday (February 14th) and the Irish Film Board will have a stand located in the Martin Gropius Bau at Stand G7 (upstairs on the balcony).
Films screening at EFM include Paddy Breathnach’s Oscar short-listed ‘Viva’, Rebecca Daly’s Sundance darling ‘Mammal’, Mammoth Films co-pro ‘ L'Accabadora’, Roads Entertainment acclaimed sports doc ‘Being AP’, Paul Mercier’s road thriller ‘Pursuit’, Fastnet Films Sundance screener ‘The Land of the Enlightened’, Element’s ‘11 Minutes’, Vico Films ‘History’s Future’ (which just screened at Rotterdam), Whit Stillman’s ‘Love & Friendship’ and Newgrange Pictures ‘The Last King’.
Irish films selling at EFM this year include highly anticipated features such as Gerard Barrett’s ‘Brain On Fire’, Jim Sheridan’s ‘The Secret Scripture’, Aisling Walsh’s ‘Maudie’ and Dennis Bartok’s ‘P.O.V’
Other Irish films selling include Billy O’Brien’s ‘I Am Not A Serial Killer’ (which has been selected for SXSW in March), Mark O'Connor's gangster drama 'Cardboard Gangsters', Brendan Muldowney’s highly anticipated violent period drama ‘Pilgrimage’, Lorcan Finnegan’s ‘Without Name’ (his follow-up to the acclaimed ‘Foxes’), Alan Gilsenan’s ‘Unless’ (based on the bestselling novel of the same name), Declan Recks political thriller ‘The Truth Commissioner’ (in cinemas February 26th), Simon Fitzmaurice’s coming of age drama ‘My Name is Emily’, John Carney’s musical drama ‘Sing Street’, Ken Wardrop’s doc ‘Mom and Me’, David Keating’s Film4 Frightfest opener ‘Cherry Tree’, Simon Dixon’s Iraq-set violent thriller ‘Tiger Raid’, Moetion Films animated ‘Two By Two - Ooops...
