‘Catastrophe’, a six part British comedy series co-created by Irish actress and writer Sharon Horgan, has been set a US premiere date of June 19.
All six episodes of the first series will be made available to stream to Amazon Prime members in the US.
It stars Sharon Horgan as Sharon Morris, and Rob Delaney as Rob Norris who get together after she falls pregnant following a brief affair while he is in the UK on business. Carrie Fisher, Ashley Jensen, and Mark Bonnar play supporting characters in the series.
The series was co-created and co-written by lead actors Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney who also both serve as Executive Producers on the show.
The Channel 4 show was renewed for a second season earlier this year after the first season aired to very positive reviews.
Horgan is best known for writing and starring in ‘Bad Management’, ‘Dead Boss’ and ‘Pulling’, with the latter project earning her two BAFTA nominations in 2007 and 2009 as well as two British Comedy Awards in 2008 and 2009.
IFTN also reported earlier this year that a comedy that Horgan wrote – entitled ‘Divorce’ – was commissioned by HBO for an entire series and will star Sarah Jessica Parker as a New York woman who attempts to divorce her husband - but finds the process a lot more convoluted than she expected. Horgan is also slated to co-produce that series alongside Parker, Paul Simms, Aaron Kaplan and Alison Benson.
‘Catastrophe’ is an Avalon Television production with co-producers Birdbath Productions and Merman. It is produced by Jack Bayles and directed by Ben Taylor. Executive producers are Richard Allen-Turner, Kara Baker, Delaney, Horgan and Jon Thoday.
