After a very positive response to its’ world premiere at Sundance 2015, Irish crime drama ‘Glassland’ has proven quite a commodity at the European Film Market in Berlin also.
UK-based Kaleidoscope Film Distribution – who are handling international sales for the film - has licensed rights to Benelux (Just Bridge), Scandinavia (Angel) and Hong Kong (Edko).
‘Glassland’ was directed by Gerard Barrett – who last month signed on to adapt and direct ‘Brain on Fire’ which will be produced by Oscar winner Charlize Theron – and stars Jack Reynor, Toni Collette and Will Poulter. It tells the story of a young taxi driver who gets pulled into crime as he attempts to save his mother from alcoholism.
Lead actor Jack Reynor won a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for his acclaimed performance – while the film last year jointly won Best Irish Feature at the 2014 Galway Film Fleadh.
‘Glassland’ was produced by Element Pictures with funding from the Irish Film Board. Element Pictures will distribute the film in the UK and Ireland – where it will be released to cinemas on April 17th. Kaleidoscope handles international sales and will also distribute in the US.
