The first deals at MIPTV, Robert Johnson’s acquisition of Image and Acorn, and Colin Farrell’s big budget return are amongst the international news stories making headlines in today’s Daily Bite.
Robert Johnson acquires Image and Acorn…. Variety are reporting that American Robert Johnson, chairman of The RLJ Companies and founder of Black Entertainment Television, is to buy Image Entertainment and Acorn Media Group. The new company will be called RLJ Entertainment with the deal set to create a major independent distributor of digital and video content worldwide.
Television deals underway at MIPTV…. With MIPTV having got underway yesterday (April 1), a host of announced deals and launches have been trickling through. Amongst them, ITV Studios Global Entertainment has announced new deals for Julian Fellowes’ ‘Titanic’ in regions such as China, Latin America, Belgium, Africa and Iran, according to Deadline. And Fremantle Media Entertainment, have also announced first look deals with producer Justin Bodle ( The Day of the Triffids) and ‘Super Size Me’ director Morgan Spurlock, according to Screen Daily.
Sandler breaks Razzies record… The Guardian are reporting that Adam Sandler’s movie ‘Jack and Jill’ has won a record 10 awards at the Razzies, the annual awards bash for the worst film and performances of 2011.
If you watch one trailer today… Ireland’s Colin Farrell heads up the cast in the remake of ‘Total Recall’, which is due for release in Ireland on August 22.
