11 Mar 2010 ‘The Fading Light’ Screenings Brighten Up IFI
The Irish Film Institute will host exclusive screenings of Irish writer, director and editor Ivan Kavanagh’s award-winning ‘The Fading Light’ from March 12th to 18th. The screenings will be run as part of the Institute’s ongoing commitment to new Irish film. The film walked away with honours for both Best Irish Film and Best Actor (for Patrick O’Donnell) from the 2010 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival’s. more

10 Mar 2010 Ireland’s 1st Indian Film Festival Unveiled
The Indian Film Festival Ireland (IFFI), Ireland’s first dedicated Indian Film Festival will take place in Swan Cinemas Rathmines from 25 – 28 June. The IFFI aims to celebrate and highlight the potential of Indian film in Ireland by introducing Indian films to Irish audiences throughout the four day event. more

02 Mar 2010 Channel 4 Orders Network Ireland Television Shorts
Channel 4 U.K. has inked a deal with Network Ireland Television (NITV) for the acquisition of 33 short films from the Irish distributor’s library of 850 titles. The film package represents independent productions from British, Scottish, Irish and American directors, as well as films funded by the Irish Film Board, Scottish Screen and various U.K. regional funding agencies. more

02 Mar 2010 'Avatar' Sinks 'Titanic' To Take Irish Box Office Crown
'Avatar', the feature directed, produced and written by James Cameron has officially become the number one film of all time at the Irish box office, having surpassed previous record holder 'Titanic' on Sunday, February 28th, with total box office earnings for the Republic Of Ireland and Northern Ireland reaching €9,747,390. The film was already the highest grossing film in box office history worldwide. more

25 Feb 2010 Irish DVD Release for ‘Conspiracy of Silence’
Element Pictures Distribution has announced the DVD release of the IFTA nominated ‘Conspiracy of Silence’ on Friday, March 12th. The 2004 film was directed by John Deery and stars Brenda Fricker (My Left Foot), Sean McGinley (The General) and High Bonneville (Notting Hill). more

The Irish Premiere of Disney’s new animated motion picture, ‘The Princess and the Frog’ takes place on Wednesday, January 27 in Dublin. The IFTA nominated film ‘Ondine’ has been picked up for U.S. distribution by Magnolia Pictures. ‘Ondine’ was written and helmed by Neil Jordan (A Film With Me In It) and stars IFTA nominated actors Colin Farrell (In Bruges), Stephen Rea (Nothing Personal) and Alicja Bachleda (The Absinthe Drinkers). more

‘Garth & Bev’, an animated series for four to eight year olds, which is produced by Kavaleer Productions, premiered on RTÉ Two's The Den on Monday, November 22nd and, following this there has been a significant increase on the average viewership for the slot (approximately 2.50pm to 3pm weekdays) which previously featured international animation. more
