Irish novelist Cecelia Ahern will have two of her films, ‘Between Heaven and Here’ and ‘My Whole Half Life’, aired on German TV station ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen). The announcement was made in Munich by TV and film producer Andreas Bareiss (Heart of Fire).
‘Between Heaven and Here’ (Zwischen Himmel und hier) and ‘My Whole Half Life’ (Mein ganzes halbes Leben) was shot on location in Dublin, Munich and Bavaria between May and July of 2013. Both of these telefilms or TV movies were filmed for German public television network ZDF for the series ‘Heart Cinema’.
Bestselling Irish author Cecelia Ahern whose books are published in 46 countries will now go onto debut her work on German TV this weekend and next month with an expected audience of up to seven million viewers.
‘Between Heaven and Here’ stars German actor Sebastian Ströbe along with a number of well-known Irish actors such as Stuart Dunne, Kerry O’Brien, Brendan Conroy and Valerie Connor who also features in both films.
‘My Whole Half Life’ stars Yvonne Catterfeld (Amelia), Roman Knizka (Adam Black), Aoibhinn McGinnity (Sally), Vinnie McCabe (Paddy) and Sheila Flitton (Sheila).
German director Michael Karen is at the helm with scriptwriter Stefanie Sycholt across both scripts. The German TV series ‘Heart Cinema’ is an Andreas Bareiss Production for TV 60 Film, headed by Sven Burgemeister, and edited by Anika Kern and James Flynn with Octagon Films, the Irish producers.
Ms. Ahern previously wrote ‘PS, I Love You’, which became a worldwide bestseller. The 2007 film adaptation starred American actress Hilary Swank and Scottish actor Gerard Butler. She also had success with Samantha Who? starring Christina Applegate, which was picked up by ABC in the US.
Ms. Ahern’s new novel ‘The Ghostwriter’ is due out next year.
