‘Easter Sixteen’ the new feature to be directed by Irish actor Jason Barry (Bog Bodies, Titanic) has announced the film’s cast which includes Guy Pearce (Memento, LA Confidential) and Ian Hart (Finding Neverland) and will begin filming in Dublin in March 2009.
Based on the pivotal time in Irish history, ‘Easter Sixteen’ is the story of an unlikely group of would-be revolutionaries, with little in common beyond their desire to see Ireland as a free nation. Confirmed lead cast for the feature are Guy Pearce (Death Defying Acts) who will play Padraig Pearse, Ian Hart (The Virgin Queen) will play Thomas Clarke while actors Anthony Lapagila, Tony Curran, Alex Etel, Jason Barry, Charlene Gleeson, Glen Barry will also star in the film. Marathon are currently in talks with A- Lister for the role of James Connolly
Brendan Foley (Bog Bodies) and Shelly Goldstein (JoJo's Circus) have penned the script for the film which is being produced by Nicolas Charles, Ned Dowd, Brendan Foley, Jason Barry with executive producer Nicola Charles and associate producer Nigel O’Dell.
With DOP and production designer yet to be confirmed, Irish Costume Designer Elmer Ni Mhaoldomhnaigh (Brideshead Revisited) will oversee the early 1900s period costumes. Editing will take place in Los Angeles by Stephen Mirrone.
A budget of US 25 Million dollars has been confirmed for the ten week shoot.
