Applications for In The Writers Room III close tomorrow

The deadline for applications to Screen Skills Ireland latest screenwriting training course, The Writers Room III, closes tomorrow - Tuesday, January 7th 2020.

Applications must be submitted to Screen Skills Ireland email address included below before 10am.

Michael Zam was co-creator, writer and co-producer on the FX miniseries, Feud: Bette & Joan, which was nominated for 18 Emmys, including two for Zam, and was based on his Black-Listed screenplay, Best Actress. Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon starred in the 2017 series. Other projects include Grace, a Limited Series at HBO, which will soon begin shooting; Vivling, a Limited Series about Vivien Leigh starring Natalie Dormer, as well as series for HBO Max, MRC, 7 Stories, among others. He teaches screenwriting, television writing and film and theater studies at NYU, and has twice been given his department’s Award for Teaching Excellence.

Participants are asked to apply with a 1-page outline, which they wish to develop for either drama or comedy.

This project-based course will focus on:

  • Idea generation.
  • Idea development.
  • Format
  • Genre
  • Story generation
  • Character development
  • Audience
  • Writing pitches and bibles
  • Markets
  • Representation

The course is tailored to experienced writers and development personnel who wish to develop a television series concept. Applicants must have a minimum of one professional screenwriting or development credit. Places are limited on this course as projects will be workshopped.

Applicants are asked to apply online with your most current CV and forward a 1-page outline of the project you wish to bring to the course to screenwritingapplications@screenskillsireland.ie by 10 am on Tuesday 7 January 2020. Please only send one outline per applicant.
