Screen Skills Ireland, the skills development unit within Screen Ireland, has announced that applications are now open for the next round of Screen Mentoring, a structured mentoring scheme for industry professionals.

Screen Mentoring enables mentees to avail of one-to-one mentoring at key stages of their career development, which can encompass business, creative, and technical mentoring. Mentors will provide practice, tailored support based on their experience, over a 12-month period.

Speaking about the scheme, producer and mentee, Roisín Geraghty said; “The Screen Skills Ireland Screen Mentoring Programme has been hugely valuable to my advancement as a producer. Having the opportunity to discuss my company, project slate, ambitions and goals with my mentor Ed Guiney is so beneficial, bestowing knowledge, confidence and the strategic tools I really need to aid in my career development.”

The scheme has assembled a panel of over 120 expert and award-winning industry professionals, working in a wide range of fields and roles. To date, 50 mentees have been paired with highly experienced industry mentors from this panel, including Mark O’Halloran (Rialto, Adam and Paul), Emma Norton (Normal People, The Souvenir: Part 2), Lenny Abrahamson (Normal People, Room), and Neasa Hardiman (Sea Fever, Jessica Jones).

New mentors added to the panel since the last call include COO of Cartoon Saloon, Catherine Roycroft; producer Martina Niland (Once, Sing Street); and ShinAwil CEO Larry Bass (The Apprentice, Dancing with the Stars).

Screen Skills Ireland is seeking applications from both above and below the line professionals working in the Irish screen sector, who are seeking the support and guidance of a mentor from our panel, to learn and grow professionally. Applicants should have three years of relevant full-time experience to be considered.  Diversity and inclusion will be factored into the selection process for all mentees.

Please note that all mentoring will be offered remotely online at present, due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19 restrictions.
