Willis, an accomplished artist who has presented over 100 television programmes, is currently the presenter on hit TG4 show ‘Irish Paint Magic’, which has been on the air for 10 years. On the show, Willis shares his own painting skills, as well as demonstrating how to perfect the wet-on-wet oil painting technique, developed by American painter Bob Ross. Willis is a certified wet-on-wet instructor.
Lispopple Studio is developing a documentary based on Willis and ‘Irish Paint Magic’, which will air its 200th episode in 2013. The studio is calling on directors, producers, editors and commissioning editors to take part to discuss Willis’ career and the legacy of the art-based TV series. This one-off documentary will begin shooting at Lispopple in August 2012.
The hour-long documentary will be produced by Dave Byrne and Paul Flanagan of Lispopple, and directed by Flanagan. Padraig Farrell will edit the film in post-production.
The studio, which recently opened modern new premises in Finglas, is currently in production on series 16 of ‘Irish Paint Magic’, which is due to be aired in late 2012 and early 2013.
