Screen Training Ireland Open Applications for Upcoming VFX Courses

Screen Training Ireland has opened its call for applications for two new VFX courses: Introduction to Anatomy for 3D & Introduction to On-set Data Acquisition.

Both courses begin in early December with the deadline for Introduction to Anatomy of 3D (Novemer 12th) and Introduction to On-Set Data Acquisition (November 13th).

Introduction to Anatomy for 3D

Tutors: Jahirul Amin

Date: Monday, December 3rd, 2018

Duration: 1 day

Venue: Dublin TBC

Cost: €100

Course Profile:

This introductory course will give you an overview of the importance of anatomy and demonstrate how it can improve your digital art. Whether you are looking to be a digital modeller, sculptor, rigger or animator, anatomy is the backbone for creating believable imagery. This one day course aims to demystify how you can use anatomy to inform your designs and approach to creating assets. This introduction to the fundamentals of anatomy will focus on:

  • Gesture
  • The Skeleton and Landmarks
  • Muscles of the Trunk
  • Muscles of the Upper Limb
  • Muscles of the Neck and Head
  • Proportion
  • Introduction to Zbrush
  • Sculpting a Torso Bust in ZBrush

Participant Profile:

This one day course is aimed at all VFX, animation and games professionals interested in enhancing their knowledge of anatomy for use in 3D digital art.

Introduction to On-set Data Acquisition

Date: Tuesday, December 4th, 2018

Duration: 1 day

Venue: The Dean Hotel, Dublin 2.

Cost: €100

Course Profile:

This one day course will introduce you to working on-set as a data acquisition artist. We’ll be covering the basics of using a DSLR camera for shooting on-set reference, the considerations you need to bear in mind before a VFX shoot. We’ll then get hands on with live demonstrations, covering shooting HDRIs, panoramas and photogrammetry reference. This is the course breakdown:

  • Introduction to cameras and lenses
  • Who’s who on-set
  • Data Acquisition Considerations
  • Shooting HDRIs for Lighting
  • Shooting Panoramas for Projections
  • Shooting Photogrammetry

Time: 9.30am – 5.00pm
