Following Sunday nights season finale, RTÉ have announced that they will be renewing ‘Dancing With The Stars’ for a third series.
After 12 weeks of intense dance routines, partner swaps, glitter, tanning and dreaded dance offs, the three finalists performed for the last time on RTE’s popular series ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
Musician Jake Carter, former All Ireland camogie player Anna Geary and comedian Deirdre O’Kane took to the floor and displayed their new found dancing talents when they danced three individual dances – the judges’ choice, their favourite dance and a showdance.
But it was Jake Carter and Karen Byrne’s high energy and stunning dance routines that proved the most popular with the public when they were voted the overall winners of RTE’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’ series two.
Speaking about the win, an emotional and tearful Jake Carter said:
“I couldn't have spent this time with someone anymore special. I've had a ball, I'm lost for words and sorry for everyone for seeing me with my top off again.“
Anna Geary said:
“Jake is a worthy winner. I couldn't be prouder of us as a team. It's been an amazing experience and everyone is friends for life .“
Deirdre said:
“It’s been so special, I don't have enough words. I love Jake Carter and Karen; I'm so thrilled for them.”
The show kicked off in style as presenters Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne shimmed across the dance floor with their pro-partners Vitali Kozmin and Ksenia Zsikhotska. The judges also put on an impressive performance on the dance floor, much to the audiences delight.
The finale also saw the return of all the eliminated celebrities from the series who danced one more time together to show the audience at home that they still had the moves.
The live audience were then treated to an exclusive performance by ‘Picture This’ who performed - ‘This Morning’, their new single, for the first time on live television.
Following another successful run RTÉ also confirmed that Dancing with the Stars will return for a third series next year.
The final episode of the behind-the-scenes show ‘Can’t Stop Dancing’ will air this Friday at 8:30pm on RTÉ One.
‘Dancing with the Stars’ is produced by ShinAwiL for RTÉ.
