Hot Drop Films principals Alan Keane and Shane Perez have been engaged as story editors on the forthcoming animated series ‘Space Chickens in Space.’
The 2D show has been commissioned by Disney EMEA and Australia’s Channel 9, and is a coproduction from Ánima in Mexico, Studio Moshi in Australia and recently formed Dublin-based Gingerbread Animation, which is a joint venture between Studio Moshi and UK-based production and distribution outfit Cake.
The comedic series follows a trio of clueless chickens who are mistakenly taken from their homes and enrolled in what was once an elite intergalactic military academy. ‘Space Chickens in Space’ is aimed at six-to-eleven-year olds and is set to debut in late 2018.
Production is currently underway and the Irish-based Alan Keane and Shane Perez are overseeing the scripting of the 50-episode first series utilising a majority of Irish writing talent.
The first season, which follows a 52x11’ format, has already been acquired by Disney EMEA, while Cake is overseeing the international distribution outside of Latin America and Australia. Studio Moshi & Ánima will handle distribution in Australia.
