The event which is free to Women in Film & Television Ireland members and priced at €10 for members of the public takes place Tuesday May 30th from 6-9pm in Brooks Hotel.

The director of the acclaimed ‘Maudie’, which has already begun to garner Oscar buzz will discuss her work for the television and cinema alike, with a career spanning two decades.

She is known for her evocative and timeless social commentary, which is present in all her content. Just a few examples of Walsh’s award-winning work are ‘Song for a Raggy Boy’, ‘Fingersmith’ and ‘The Daisy Chain’.

The most recent ‘Maudie’ stars Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke in a touching portrait of the Nova Scotia artist who triumphed over adversity, in painting against the odds. The project premiered at Telluride Film Festival in 2016, followed by screenings at prestigious festivals such as TIFF and ADIFF.

Walsh graduated in Fine Art at the now Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology and became the first Irish graduate of the National Film School at Beaconsfield in the UK.

Throughout her career she has collaborated with accomplished actor such as Aidan Quinn, Kenneth Branagh, Sally Hawkins, Miranda Richardson, Tom Hiddleston, Alfred Molina, Tom Hollander, Rhys Ifans, David Thewlis, Iain Glen and Helen McCrory.
