IFB announces successful applicants for Frameworks funding
18 Jul 2016 :
Now in its 21st year, this scheme is dedicated to the production of animated films.

The Irish Film Board is delighted to announce the successful applicants for the most recent round of Frameworks funding.

The Frameworks scheme has been successful year after year in stimulating ground breaking and innovative work from Irish animators. The scheme was primarily established to develop new talent and skills in the field of animation and its continued success in encouraging original and new work from Irish animators can be seen in the awards which the successful projects continuously garner on an international stage.

At the recent Galway Film Fleadh, the Award for Best Animated Sequence in a Short Film went to The Lost Letter. Second to None was a double winner, picking up The Don Quijote Award for Best Animated Short Film and The James Horgan Award for Best Animation, with the latter award meaning that it will qualify for Academy Award consideration. A Coat Made Dark was this year selected for both the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival. Geist was named Best Irish Short at the Audi Dublin International Film Festival and received an IFTA for Best Animated Short.

The successful projects are:

Departure which will be produced by Niamh Herrity and written and directed by Aoife Doyle.
Late Afternoon which will be produced by Nuria Blanco and written and directed by Louise Bagnall.
Macarooned which will be produced by Samantha Plaisted, directed by Seamus Malone and co-written by Seamus Malone and Alan Short.

The Frameworks scheme is funded by the IFB and RTÉ. These animated shorts will premiere in 2017.
