IFB Short Stories Funding Deadline Friday, 15th July

The deadline for the Irish Film Board’s Short Stories funding programme, one of four in its short film funding schemes this year, is this Friday the 15th of July at 1pm.

The brief requires filmmakers to submit a 2-5 minute script engaging with the theme of 'Tribes', with a budget of €20k.

It is noted: “The brief is as wide as you want it to be, from ethnic groups to football fans, families to political parties, enthusiasts to pessimists; we'll leave you to decide which type of tribe fascinates you the most.”

Applications are invited from producer/director/writer teams (where the producer and director are not the same person) subject to eligibility guidelines as follows:

  • Producers must have previously produced at least one live action short film.
  • Directors must have previously directed at least one live action short film.
  • Writers must have previous writing experience eg. screen, published or online work (links to online work should be provided on their CV).
  • Projects submitted twice before unsuccessfully may not reapply.
  • Producers, Directors & Writers may apply to make more than one SHORT STORIES film but may not receive funding through the scheme more than three times in a 10 year period.
  • The scheme is not open to full-time students

FOCUS SHORTS

Applications close for the Focus Shorts funding programme at 1pm on Friday 5th of August. Submissions to this scheme can be up to 10 minutes in length and receive a budget of up to €50k.

Focus Shorts is a short film scheme for the making of the making of live-action, fiction films that act as a proving-ground for Irish creative talents aspiring to write, direct and produce films for the cinema.

REAL SHORTS

Applications for the Real Shorts funding programme also close on Friday the 5th of August and can be up to 10 minutes in length. Entries to this scheme can receive a budget of up to €20k.

Real Shorts is a new short documentary film scheme which will enable creative documentaries with high cinematic production values capable of reaching an international audience through theatrical and festival exposure.
